Mitch Brumwell is a seasoned commercial real estate executive with over 15 years of direct experience in the real estate securitization industry. Brumwell currently serves as President of CMBS Workout Solutions, a trusted associate and business development platform for Hart Advisors Group. Brumwell teamed with Hart in 2011 after working together on several successful modifications for borrowers.

Prior to forming CMBS Workout Solutions, Brumwell worked for Maclean, VA based special servicer, JER Partners as an asset manager. From 2009 until 2011, his responsibilities included the management and disposition of a revolving $200 million portfolio of performing and non-performing commercial real estate loans on behalf of CMBS investors. He has specific expertise working with office, retail, multi-family and industrial properties across the United States with a focus on the upper-Midwest and East Coast.

Brumwell previously served as fixed income commercial real estate bond analyst in the Chicago office of Fitch Ratings. While at Fitch, Brumwell was responsible for rating a portfolio of over 50 multi-property fixed and floating rate CMBS trusts. By working closely with investors, bankers, master and special servicers, he provided detailed credit analysis and rating of commercial real estate loans and credit opinions to the market. Based on his commercial real estate and market research, he was recognized for making timely and market moving actions.

Brumwell began his career as an assistant state's attorney in DuPage County and a commercial real estate research analyst for Sears Roebuck & Co. After graduating law school and passing the Illinois Bar, he accepted a position with Chicago based LaSalle Bank/ABN-Amro's CMBS trust services group. At ABN-Amro, Brumwell spent two years in commercial real estate due diligence on all asset types as a securitization collateral administrator. He was then promoted to Trust Officer and spent three years acting as CMBS Trustee for securitization trusts for LaSalle working closely with investment bankers, servicers, special servicers and legal outside counsel. After another promotion to Assistant Vice President, he successfully grew commercial loan and asset repurchase facility business from $2.5 million to $2.5 billion. In addition, Brumwell was responsible for managing client relationships in the investment banking industry.

Brumwell completed his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and was a Zeke Giorgi Scholar at Northern Illinois University College of Law. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Chicago Bar Association.
